The Doctoral Program in Management Sciences

The objective of the doctoral program in Management Sciences is to help participants produce a high-level dissertation and research that meet the highest international standards. This training leads to careers as academic researchers, corporate researchers, or consultants.

Following the completion of a Master's degree or the DESU Research in Management Sciences, admission to the doctoral program is granted after presenting a research project supported by a research supervisor accredited to oversee theses and who is a CERGAM member. The thesis is conducted within the doctoral schools affiliated with CERGAM:

  • The Doctoral School of Economic and Management Sciences at Aix-Marseille (ED 372), or
  • The Doctoral School of Mediterranean Societies and Human Sciences (ED 509).

The doctoral program includes doctoral seminars organized by CERGAM and its affiliated Doctoral Schools. These seminars are designed to equip doctoral students with the most advanced research techniques. A minimum of 100 hours of training must be completed.

The program also includes research progress workshops organized by CERGAM. These workshops allow doctoral students to formalize their research regularly and present it for feedback from CERGAM faculty members and fellow doctoral students. They provide an invaluable learning environment for research development and preparation for presentations at conferences and symposia.

From the second year of the program, doctoral students are encouraged to participate in peer-reviewed academic conferences. Accepted presentations at these conferences are eligible for financial support, covering registration fees and travel expenses, provided by the research center.

In addition to seminars and workshops, doctoral students are encouraged to participate in the European Center for Advanced Training in Management (CEFAG) and the EDAMBA Summer School (European Doctoral Association in Management and Business Administration).

A pre-defense of the thesis, conducted before two or three professors, allows doctoral students to make final adjustments, ensuring a high-quality defense after three years of research.
